Tutor
I am not currently accepting any new students at the moment. Please check back occasionally for updates! If you’d like to talk so I can help you find a good Japanese tutor here on eduFire, we can do that as well! Before you request a lesson, please be sure you have at least a microphone, and preferably a camera as well. It’s hard to teach anything when I can’t hear your pronunciation ; )

Tutored Japanese students in learning English
Studied abroad in Japan for one year where I had a wonderful time and learned a lot about the language.
Spent two years studying Sonkeigo at Willamette University. This is very important for people who don’t want to offend other people, especially in business!

Great lesson this week. Really fun talking and listening session stumbling around my fictional hometown with a drunken (not really, of course) Koichi.
Koichi was patient during technical difficulties we had during my last session, which is much appreciated. With what we could do, he was sure to correct a misconception I had, which is nice to be sure I can rely on. He did well to continue into new territory, while reinforcing vocabulary and structures we hadn't visited in a while.
Koichi is the best! i have learnt lots in such a short amount of time and he makes the lessons fun instead of boring (like school.) I'd definitely recommend him to anyone who would really like to learn Japanese. =)
In my most recent lesson, Koichi demonstrated how flexible he can be. When I interrupted with questions, he rolled with it, and somehow got through the intended material.
Another excellent session! Even though I was a little slow today, Koichi was patient and I felt that the lesson went well.
This last session was my fourth session with Koichi, and I can tell you that is a great teacher, always teaches to my learning style. I have learned more with his guidance then I have with 6 months with books and CDs alone. Oh, and of course he is a cool frood that knows where his towel's at. :)
Koichi was able to assess my level quickly and move right along to new information. Further, he was receptive to my requests and seemed concerned with what I expected, rather than go straight through with a program he'd decided. He's not terribly technical about the mechanics, but it makes him much less knowledgeable. He was also encouraging, which is a relief, being a rusty student. Very much worth the trouble.
Koichi buids the vocabulary with each lesson and even issues helpful review sheets afterwards. So far he has done everything he promised to do and he is helpful and pleasant to caht to as well!
Koichi is very easy to work with - after introducing a subject, he is very good about helping to guide you through its practice so that you really understand it. His notes are good too. I would definitely recommend him, he is kind and funny, easy to work with, and most importantly.. he is a good teacher!
There was a lot i didn't know, and we started talking, and he talk me some really useful things i didn't know before, and he was really fun to talk to, we started talking about games and other funny Japanese experiences, if you can please choose koichi as your tutor, I know i will definitely be setting up an appointment in the future.
Koichi was really great and relaxed. He helped me tackle my fear of japanese pronounciation and gave great advice on anything I asked. Had a great begginer lesson and managed to cover loads! I would definately recommend Koichi to anyone wanting to learn japanese. The lesson was cleverly planned and definately enjoyed! ;)
Koichi was an asbolute blast to work with. He's very comical but at the same time extremely professional. His teaching methods are awesome, and he's a wonderful tutor!
Koichi provided a well structured first lesson putting me at my ease and establishing just how much I already knew. He got me talking straight away explaining the grammar and syntax of the language with each exercise. I was so impressed I booked a second session :)
Koichi is very friendly and clearly knows what he's talking about. He answered any questions I had and went through everything at a pace that suited me. Made me believe that there is hope for my Japanese yet. Great tutor and I highly recommend him.
Exceptional teacher! Explains everything thoroughly, and accommodates to your level or learning. Out of 10 he gets a perfect score.
Koichi is a great guy to work with. He goes at the pace I set, and answered every question I had. Very patient and made the whole experience fun! I look forward to our next lesson!
Koichi is a friendly guy and a natural teacher, who explains things clearly, and most importantly, really wants you to learn. He was very patient, and even managed to extract some sense from my incoherent stuttering. If you're self conscious about your Ja
Koichi is a great tutor, covers everything brilliantly and makes sure you understand. Really funny guy, I would recommend him to a friend.
Koichi is very friendly and helpful. Some folks might prefer a more "structured" lesson, but I enjoyed just going through some basics and getting a feel for the sounds of the language. I recommend Koichi!
Great teacher.Helps you understand everything at your own pace.Look no further for a great japanese instructor.
Koichi is an absolutely phenomenal tutor! He quickly assessed the level I was at in my studies and educated me without overlapping on things I had already known. He was extremely friendly and comical which made it easy to keep focused on his lesson. Throughout the session he used props and real life examples to make the information practical. He was even courteous enough to extend our lesson because I had shown up late due to technical difficulties. Truly Professional! If you are looking to study Japanese, I highly recommend Koichi!
Koichi is a great tutor. He kept the tutoring lesson very engaging using slideshows and props when introducing new words and sentences as well as clearly explaining word meanings and their usage. The session was very enjoyably and friendly. He also send me a worksheet of what was covered in the lesson and an audio file which as help me greatly with reviewing what was covered in the session and improving my pronunciation. I would highly recommend him as a tutor.
